Baby Project Life Cards

Hello everyone!  I've taken a bit of a hiatus as we PCS'd to Colorado!  I've been busy trying to finish up school, unpacking and getting the boys ready for their new school.  I'm on a Project Life Facebook group and a member there was asking about some specific cards.  I told her I would design the one's she needed and I also threw in some extra's!  I hope you guys could use them, and I would love to see what you do! The zipped file contains each card as a seperate jpg file along with two printable PDF files that are 8.5x11.

Burlap Americana Flag

Some great friends of mine threw me a going away party before we left St Louis.  We all worked at Archiver's together, before we all went our separate ways, but have always kept in touch.  My friends Megan and Donna put a little project together for us to do while we sat and visited and ate!  For this project you'll need a burlap board (these came in a package) fabric that you would like to use, buttons, Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive, and whatever else you would like to add!s - See more at: http://helmarusa.typepad.com/blog/2014/06/my-entry.html#sthash.zoog05B1.dpuf

DIY Cardboard Books

I've done a couple of these books and they're so much fun to do and so simple.  These are very versatile and you can really make them you're own!  My boys have even made them, so if you're looking for a kid friendly project this is it!  You'll need a cardboard box, or even a cereal box will work, Helmar 450, Helmar Zap dots or scrap dotshttp://www.helmarworldwide.com/, and your scrapbook papers and embellishments that you wish to use!  You can make these books any size.  I decided to make this one a little longer instead of square.
To start, cut two pieces out for your front and back cover of your book.  None of this really needs to be exact.  I think the one I made here was around 7x5.  Also cut a spine piece.  Adhere all three pieces on a 12x12 piece of scrapbook paper and leave a little space in between the pieces as shown below.  This will allow your book to fold.  Trim off excess paper, but leave enough that you'll be able to fold and ahere the paper to your cardboard.  Trim off corners as shown below.  Use 450 Adhesive to adhere to the cardboard, as shown below.
Now, this next part is not exact which is why it's great for anyone of any skill level.  Select another piece of scrapbook paper and lay it over one side of your book.  Making sure to cover the cardboard.  Adhere with 450 and trim off the excess as shown below.  Make sure to cover the spine as well.  I used some nice lace trim to put in between the space between the spine and the inside cover.  You want this part of your book to still be able to bend, so I always use trim of some type.  Cute tape could work as well.  The inside of your book is done!  Feel free to make pockets out of the inside covers as I did.  I also used matching papers and bound them together.  You can then adhere them to your spine or on the left or right side of the cover as seen in my second book I made.
Note- my desk is very used so don't mind the mess!  Also, take these instructions as guidance to make your own version of a cardboard book!  I would love to see what you guys come up with!

Genuinely Jane Studios- December Guest!

I'm super excited to be guesting with Genuinely Jane this month!  I haven't done any design team work for awhile and when I saw the call I had to apply!  I love their REAL wood books and their wood doodads embellies are amazing as well!  They have a full store for all your needs as well.
They sent me two of their wood books, the snow globe and the top hat book
Here's my take on the snow globe book!
I used papers and embellies from IOD Designs.  Adhesive was 450, zapdots and scrapdots from Helmar.  Glimmer Glaze on the Angel from Tattered Angels.

DIY Holiday Gifts

I'm always on the look out for fun gifts for teachers, family and friends during the holidays. Last Easter, while my grandma and great aunt were out here in St Louis, we hit up Michaels. If you haven't been there lately they have a dollar spot that you need to check out! We picked up these nice journaling books and note books with nice patterns on them, but as a crafter I knew I could do something more useful with them. I also sell fabric, wallpaper, wrapping paper etc on spoonflower and I have to order a swatch before I can set my items for sale. In the past I've done a blog post about how to cover these books with the fabric. As a crafter though, I always have scraps laying around that I tend to hoard like the rest of my kind ;) This is a great way to get rid of those scraps or an easy way to keep those kiddos busy while on holiday break! If you're a digi gal you can create the entire front and back page for you book or just print off paper and embellies and go from there to save some time and money.  I have some new free Ikat papers on my Facebook Freebie page today. When I put these together I used items from a couple different companies. I used Helmar Adhesives as well, particularly the 450 Adhesive along with scrapdots and zapdots.

Crayola Art

I finally decided to jump on the bandwagon and give this a go!  I'm really loving water color paint and paint splats etc that some are doing with tattoos right now.  So I decided to go that route with my project.  If you want a clean line instead of what I did, follow this tutorial.  Really what you can do is endless!
